Each day we automatically go about the business of the day, flitting about, taking care of this and that, often without the slightest awareness of what we are truly accomplishing. We take these, every day accomplishments totally, for granted. Then there comes a time when we get a strange feeling of lack – something is awe rye. We may begin to wonder what it is that we are supposed to be doing with our lives. This is often followed by a nagging thought that we may never know the answer to that question.
Asking for what you want begins with the initial question, “What is the purpose of my life?” This question does not mean, “What am I supposed to do for a living?” It means, “How am I supposed to be in order to experience joy and true satisfaction in my life?” “What is it that I have forgotten, since I began this existence that I choose to remember now?”
My understanding in this area came for me quite late in life. Though, upon reflection, I see that my parents actually were incredibly progressive for their time as they encouraged me in a way that I would encourage others now; only I would add one ingredient. This ingredient is the ingredient I teach children about today; this ingredient is intuition.
By paying attention to our intuition and closely monitoring our feelings we can evolve from a place of integrity.
When you finally discover what it is you truly want – ask for it; tell everyone what it is you are wanting; get out of your own way (stop doubting yourself); and watch what happens.
I have so many for instances in this category I could fill a book! The qualifier that I would add to these prophetic pearls of power is this:
When you think you know what you truly want, then, it is good to check into how your body is feeling. What are your symptoms? Do you have nice little butterflies in your tummy? Do you have goose bumps on your skin? What are your inner feelings? What is that intuitive knowing that tells you this is perfect? This is your built-in meter that discerns what is best for your life going forward. It is a ‘must step’ in the practice of my first guideline
